TAUGHT BY EXPERIENCE is a tear-dropping bibli-motivational book by Brenda Mhlanga, a young and brave lady who is ever hungry to tell real life episodes in quest to liberate the victims of the same life-punctures in the world of Albinism.
Brenda comes bold to take the front seat in the palms of a society which sees people living with disabilities (Albinos) as aliens. Her voice fumes with desperation to resound the plight of the pariah through the invitation of God, the creator of mankind. This alone gives hope and strength to the one who shares the same predicament.
“I was born an Albino and I have learned that my birth brought about a lot of turmoil in the family with a lot of accusations of cheating towards my mother.” One cannot turn the pages of this book and remain smiling, especially after carefully taking the lines of ‘My Personal Experience’ from chapter Two.
In this chapter, Brenda refuse to shy away from unveiling how life defined her in her school days. It is not always easy to handle the scornful words, humiliation, and discrimination from peers and all the vices a child can ever go through. Thank God, a reliable friend to Brenda who gave her wisdom and courage to face the world with sound and positive gait.
“Taught By Experience” is nothing but an offering to those who feel life has no meaning, in reference to the preliminary pages of their lives. As one strides to the tail of ‘Taught By Experience’, he or she is guaranteed of biblical message which remains a cowrie of hope. ‘Emotional Healing and Self Discovery’ is a prescription that Brenda is quick to administer into a soul which is slow to recognize the dying flame and is too low to re-kindle it. Her constant visits to the bible proves how God has been a pillar of strength in her trying days.
‘Rediscover Yourself’, ‘Get Out of Your Fears’, ‘Reading the Word of God’, Surround Yourself with Positive People’ are the last sub-chapters that leaves a reader longing for more in this life transforming chronicle.
One can read this book time and again, not only to enjoy the dive into its pages, but to learn what has kept the survivors bold in the time of alienation.

  • WHY LOVE IN THE FIRST PLACE? With Coach Fortune Munsaka, Zimbabwe

One would give a different opinion in response to this question depending on which side of the world that person is at. A religious somebody would give a different opinion, a socialist,
a philosopher and just like what a politician would do. So everyone hold reasons for getting involved in love relationships for different purposes. The first question is to know why do you need to be in a love relationship. Most often we find ourselves in love relationship to get love, to get security financial, to be protected and to have a family of course. Sometimes we want that person to complete us by occupying the emptyness in us so that we feel valuable and loved. But some of the key reasons being sharing of love, helping each grow spiritually and emotionally.

Often times we make this huge mistake of desperately wanting to get right partners for ourselves and forget to check if we are the right persons for the right partners we are so desperately in need of. One of the most important things we need to do is to first love ourselves, find the real us, define ourselves and know our value. By this we will also need to have enough love for ourselves to share with someone else before expecting them giving us their love. If you can ask yourself “Do I have enough love to share or I am just a receiving jar which is needy and desperate to be filled with love. If your main aim is to get love instead of you giving love then it’s a clear indication that the relationship will not come out nice for you. You will need to clean and dust yourself. If the case is the other way round you will have to ask yourself if the person you are falling inlove with is the kind of a person who is in a good space to learn about themselves as well as you. It is one of the Paramount things to learn to love yourself and others without being so defensive. In every relationship there are misunderstandings and it takes someone who is willing to learn to sustain a good relationship. Most often people tend to be good and most loving until a conflict arises, then that’s when you will get to learn of their true characters. Sometimes just find out if your significant other gets angry, how long do they take to get back to their normal. Being able to and willing to settle your differences in a more mature manner is one tablet to lead a healthy relationship.

Another aspect you can use to see if your partner is the right person for you is to see if they are capable of caring, do they show compassion, empathy, are they supportive in your interests and are they able to accept you for who you are? If you find out that the person does not meet the above attributes, he or she is probably not the perfect person for you. Of course not everyone is good or perfect and it’s not like we’re being judgemental but that is the honest reality. There is no possible way one can spend a lifetime with someone they are not in harmony with. The other fundamental aspect of an alive relationship is to find out if is there any mutual or spark of attraction? Do you feel sexually attracted to this person? Do you enjoy his or her presence, do you enjoy it when they hold you. For this relationship to work you at least need to feel physically attracted to this person, failure to feel that for a long period of time, it’s an indication that the spark may never be there at all. The person might be a nice person to spend time with, but not a romantic somebody.

Sharing interests is one of the crucial ways to find if you are really meant to be in that relationship. Are you able to do certain things together, planning together, do you share same religious and social values. Do you respect each other’s space, do you agree on certain things like going out together, sexual life, eating, dressing? This is because when we love a person we love them with their flaws. Despite all their downside, we should not expect them to change for the better, because this will definitely result in heart breaks. So we need to first change ourselves and make sure we’re are the right partner before looking for the right partner. The more we love ourselves, the better are the chances that we will attract a loving relationship.

At times again, we are so quickly to jump into love relationships. You need to give yourself enough time to find and learn the real and good partner for yourself. It is of no use to see somebody today, you are already in love with them within a period of seven days. That’s not love, actual it’s just infatuation in its high definition.

It is always fun how you see someone on the street and you want to stop them and ask for their contacts, and it becomes bad because your intentions become clear at that particular moment. Then, you go around telling people that you have found a love. Have you ever considered how many people does this person stop and ask of their contacts per day? What guarantee is there that you will probably be the only person for that kind of a person, girl, wake up there are wolves out there.

I think a normal somebody would not tolerate such behavior especially if they are looking for a real love partner. Sometimes we cry so much complaining that relationships are not working for us, yes it’s okay because we would have fallen for a wrong person at the wrong time in the first degree. That’s why these days there are a lot of divorced people, single fathers, single mothers, it’s all because we run for instant people, and make instant relationships,
    and everything just becomes instant.

For us to survive in these matters, we need to swallow our pride and invite God in our marital affairs. For God is love and love is for Him. So if he is love, why can’t we trust him at least once and see if he cannot take us through health love relationships?

  • The Broken Jewel

    Lovely, ever smiling,
    Like all the angels
    Her ivory skin
Planted with those snow white teeth
    She drives every man wild.

No one to cast the bones
And see how thorned is the path
As she walks across the dark valleys
    And no prophet to visualize
The anguish she’s made to drink every night!

    In that same mug,
Full of bitter tastes of life,
    Which gets her drunk?
As she sets her holly feet’s
Into the cursed gates of her mansion.

    When you meet her!
    You can swear, and shout
    The sweetest news ever
    That you’ve seen Rebecca.
Just like Isaac at the well.

    Her angelical being
    Makes you wonder and ponder
    If there still exist angels
    In this damnable cursed earth,
    When she greets you,
    With her seraphic sweet voice
    Just like one of Delilah’s
Which ensnared the great enemy of Philistines?

    Her, herself knows!
The kind of the wolf waiting
And craving for her innocent soul
She fails to retreat or retaliate
Just stand still like a scarecrow
She cannot escape the devilish, stinging
Pains, inflicted by her so-called father.

In vain, she cries silent tears!
As she’s roasted in the saucepan,
The heat of hatred and brutality
And fuelled with a pharaoh like cruel heart.
No one is there to rescue her innocent soul
    From the devouring monster
Clothed in high priests garment. Holly!

She freezes, as he draws closer to her
    She hates him by instinct
For when she cast eyes on him
    She captures no other betrayer,
    Other than Iscariot himself.

    Across the streets!
    She wears a fake smile
Just to veil the inner scars
But deep within, the swelling wounds
    Of years never heal.
    In her glowing smile,
    She covers the room secrets
    And beautify herself
Just like one of the descendants of Jezebel.

    No one to wipe off the tears;
And her heart bounces off to burst
    As she gets home
And as usual, she starts to
Unbutton one by one on her way to his room
He welcomes her with his wolfish smile
And starts to feast on her innocent soul
    She cries silent tears!
    Enduring the previous stinging pains
    And the routine repeat itself
She waits for the next night
To be led to the bedroom
Silent like a beast at the abattoir!
And yes she’s just a broken jewel.

  • BROOM

    Those glassy eyes!
    Flooded with tears
    Terrified and helpless
    Begging for mercy
Those twig thin legs haunted me.

We stopped and looked at her
    Filled with hunger and tiredness,
Dragging herself with an empty stomach
Even a kettle full of boiling water
    W’d accompany her if she’s a tortoise.

    Those Innocent white eyes
    Beseeching for a helping hand
    She balanced a 20L bucket
    On her tiny head, looked
    Familiar to an improper fraction.

    Just like a barometer
She felt the pressure of being parentless
    She lost her, yes her,
When she was still in her womb
    She never saw her,
    She will never know her
    Only from the sepia pictures
Shown to her by the uncles.

    The so-called her mum
Tosses her like a flip coin
And rolls her like a smoking cigar.
    Everyone steps on her intentionally.
To them shes just a doormate.

We stood there, studied her looks
Those floodsof tears, down her chicks
She’s alone, alone like a summer cloud
Holding her chin, her arms curled around her knees
Then with her twig legs crossed,
    Forming a China sitting style.

    She’s been enslaved
    Only to be abandoned,
And picked up when the duty calls
    Just like a broom.
    Yes..just like a broom.

  • THE LETTER NEVER DELIVERED
    to love is blissful
but to love blinded is never an option
talking of sinning, l ‘ve sinned
talking of sinners, a holly sinner i’ve become.
Heavens punish me not, because with an Angel, i’ve fallen in love.
never to escape her warmest heart.
The sweetest voice that sings melodies
turns my harsh hard heart to a soft spongy.
missing the looks in her eyes is to me an arbomination,
but staring at her innocent snow eyes is the skill i always perfect.
Heavens punish me not, because this is not lust
but an admiration to what belongs to me.
left alone, i never dare forget to recall how she loved me,
but afraid to fall in love and that alone left me in wonder.
Only love sparked the affectionate flames
then a long time dream came true, when i held her
and breathed in her warmest breath.
Heavens punish me not, because it was never public display of affection.
but just a portrayed of Isaac and Rebecah at the well.
    to love is blissful!
but to love blinded was never an option.
